I sought God at the local church
But it was just a building you see
and though I looked and prayed
God was not there for me

I walked around the city
seeking the One to whom I prayed
needing answers, needing hope
for a life tattered and frayed

At dawn I found myself
downtown on an unknown street
and it was there I found
an answer - oh so sweet!

The sound of happy laughter
drifted in the morning air
I found a playground alive
with children singing God’s prayer

So effortlessly I joined them
sharing their song of heaven’s care
they danced and laughed at my tears
as my heart found God there.

When life was dark and I despaired
I was lifted up on Angel's wings
shown that God is everywhere
and now, my heart sings

Wow! PDV you did a great job! This was beautiful!!! Loved that 4th stanza. I almost cried in the beginning, then I cheered up at the end. Very good!

God and I are not on the best of terms right now, but this verse is wonderfully done and fitting.

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints in our heart and we are never ever the same.

Thank you all for leaving footprints!!
