the back of your neck
would taste like salt, and rain, and
something like autumn
I'd memorize your teeth
the loop of your backpack
pockets you'd keep me inside
you'd let me count
all those red-brown freckles
sprinkled like stars
stick candles in the dirt
underneath the grass
I'm waiting for this
to happen to you.
