This poem is for anyone that ever met that special someone....
Someone that became your friend instantly. Someone that you enjoyed being with, talking with,
sharing your life with. Someone that could make you laugh, smile and cry tears of joy. But then
one day, you both found yourselves looking at each other
from a different point of view, sharing feelings that weren't suppose to be there.
Realizing that you both were about to go beyond the boundaries of just being friends...into a forbidden
love.

The Line In The Sand

She caught a glimpse of him in the distance.
As we she watched him draw near,
Her body trembled as he got closer.
His presence made her heart skip a beat.
His touch could send a thousand sensations.
His voice could take her breath away.
She looked down at the line in the sand.

As he approached, he stood boldly before her.
As his eyes met hers,
Without a blink, he smiled softly.
He took her hands, holding them tightly.
Their bodies moved closer without hesitation.
Their lips fell delicately onto the others.
Her five senses were immersed into rhapsody-
She could taste him on her lips-
She could hear his breath falling all around her-
She could smell his love, as he stood close-
She could feel his heart beating next to hers-
As her eyes closed, she could see him there-
There in the midst of her dreams.
The kiss was majestically impassioned unto each.
As the kiss broke, she looked down at the line in the sand.

Confronting the realities of her life,
she weakly pushed him away.
The look in her eyes painfully pleaded with him,
She asked him to stand at a distance.
For when he was close, she knew that
Her mind, body, heart and soul would collide.
As she stumbled through her own dreams,
She searched everywhere for answers
But could see nothing but the line in the sand.

She stepped back where she should be.
He stood where her decisions put him.
Standing on opposite sides of the line,
Now seemed like opposite sides of the earth.
This time with great difficulty,
Once more they went into the realm of their dreams.
Thunderously they felt them fall all around.
The dreams came crashing to the ground.
As if the dreams were broken like ice, they lay shattered all about.
Glistening deep within the line in the sand.

With the gentleness of his hand,
He lifted her face and tears fell upon his fingertips.
Through his sincerity and endless endeavor,
He attempted to comfort her with the words he spoke.
He promised a lifetime of friendship.
Whether to share times of happiness or joy,
Or to console her in times of sorrow.
He spoke of the place in her heart where he knew he stood,
That she must always remember without a shadow of a doubt
That he would always and forever be there if she needed.
Hearing his words as they fell upon her,
She bowed her head and the tears fell one by one..
They fell silently into the line in the sand.

Once again she looked into his eyes,
Although he was a statue of boldness and strength,
She could see the pain and sorrow fill his eyes.
She seen the hurt and pain trickle slowly from his face.
She looked away, as if searching the world for answers.
But found nothing that could ease the pain
that was tearing out their hearts.
In the tears on his face she seen her own reflection
As she watched herself stare at the line in the sand.

As her voice spoke softly unto him
She promised for a friendship forevermore.
That she too would be by his side in times of need.
Whether to share a simple smile...or to wipe away his tears.
She spoke of a friendship that was honest and true,
That was to be treasured and cherished endlessly deep within her heart.
As if in slow motion.. She let go of his hands...
She stepped back away from the line
She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath.
She took one last look into the realm of this dream.
She paused and thought to herself.
How can one have the courage to step back?
But yet have the strength to never look back?
Before she turned to walk away
She knelt down to the sand.
There she inscribed the following words...
~Friends Forever And A Day~
Reminiscing and paying tribute to what they had often said to one another...
~she left a penny for his thoughts.
Before rising she leaned over,
She kissed her fingertips and laid the kiss down on the--
Other side....Of the line in the sand
