If I took this blade
and slit my wrist,
could you tell me
that I'd be missed?

If I took this gun
and shot my head,
would you care
that I was dead?

If I took these pills
and numbed my mind,
should you care
that I was kind?

If I took this rope
and tied a noose,
would you try
and cut me loose?

If I took my life
and didn't care,
could you promise
to be there?

If I took your hand
and held it tight,
would you be with me
throughout the night?

Ouch...I was getting a bit worried there, about to call 911...glad you threw in that last stanza for born romantics such as myself!

I am moving this one to the top too...everyone who reads it, I think we need to let Echo know that we would be there, I know I would be! But I can only speak for myself. I can honestly answer yes to all these questions!

I must admit, after reading all seven of your poems, I am impressed by how you translate your inner feelings. I read some of your poems in open and I can assure you I will be looking forward to more of your poems. And thank you Whtdove for bringing them back to to the top again. : )
