Road Trip

Standing at a crossroad
Ragged dreams in hand
Looking left, then right
To mountains or to sand?
~~~*~~~
Indecision keeps her rooted
Pride destroys her fate
Behind her she still hears
The sad song of her mate
~~~*~~~
A passing hand is offered
Then drawn back in fear
A fleeting hope approaches
But floats away in tears
~~~*~~~
She sits down on her baggage
Both roads still in view
She thinks about which path to take
Not knowing which to choose
~~~*~~~
As the eastern sun moves to west
She takes the path back home
Scars packed in her suitcase
She's better off alone
~~~*~~~
Caroline, you are good!...
Great imagery, you had me feeling I was
right by the road.
The sentence: Scars packed in her suitcase.
very original.
This is very good (and sad - I wanted her to go west!), Caroline. I could see her standing there, suitcase at the ready. I like the format too...the stanza breaks give this poem a unique look.
Thank you Ms. deVine. She is trying to let go of that suitcase, but I think it may have grown to her hand.
Your work is all truly exceptional - but considering that I have my suitcase in hand at the moment, this one is particularly appropriate for me today...
