I wish I was as is the night,
self-sufficient,self-contained,
lit from within by starry light,
lacking need and self-ordained,
my being one,complete,unerring
my only duty-one of sharing
majesty of peace and glory,
as I stand watch on all history.
Unmoveable,unchanging I,
so far removed from any why,
beyond poor reasonings'domain,
beyond all longing and all pain,
beyond the agony of being,
undivisible,all-seeing.

Paul, this is beautiful, yet with a touch of sadness. Very expressive!

Well done, Paul. Sort of like "Old Man River" in the sky.

There will be those that say that everything looks different (better?) in the light of day. I can understand what you are trying to say here though

Oops-sorry for the typo error i.e;
undivisible should be indivisible...aargh
I hate when that happens.

Thanks for your kind support everyone.I was sitting in the dark with my cat and I think she gave me the idea for the poem-but she can't spell to well.

A terrific piece! This has got to be the same disillusion that you were talking about when you commented to the poem Sands of Time. It's just the gift that nature gives, a feeling of serenity and security and innocence. Very, very beautiful....

May the light of the stars shine on you.

Thanks again to all.Actually, today is proving to be a difficult one.Received a very kind rejection from a rather important publisher. He liked my "ideas",but thought my writings lacked "discipline" and were weak as to "disservication".Perhaps I should self-flaggelate whilst' writing.I really haven't a clue as to what they are saying.Difficult to continue.Except,of course, for those who actually are able to still feel something. That means all of you at this wonderful forum. You are a true port in a very wicked storm.

Gratefully,
Paul
