Oh My God

Oh my God, those terrifying, awful, gruesome fears
welling up in her eyes, spilling forth her tears
when she came running up to the front door
and said “Mom, he doesn’t love me anymore.”

With her babe in hand, and her belly with child
my mind went screaming, wailing ever wild
for the words came back to my ears as before
when I said “Mom, he doesn’t love me anymore.”

While my daughter sits there in denial and shock
the foundation for her husband begins to rock
I want to get in his face, with my eyes scream
“How could you ever be so rottenly mean?”

On their anniversary, with flowers in hand
he came to her with deceit oh so grand
“Happy anniversary, here’s flowers galore,
oh, by the way, I don’t love you any more.”

Oh my God, how this brings back the past
and within me I still feel the hideous blast
when my own husband whom I had adored
said to me “I don’t love you anymore.”

Now I sit in quandary deep, my daughter’s fate
outside of my direction, I can only relate
and suffer along with her, as I did before
when a beloved says curtly “I don’t love you anymore.”

Oh Lord, please now hear this fervent plea,
that my daughter discover from the strength of me;
to find a resolve that I know dwells in her deep,
help find a resolution so that she may sleep.

I will pray for her and keep it in my mind
That you have grand plans for her of some kind
But Lord, the pain she’s now going through
I’d rather you give it to me, and I’ll make do.

And Lord, while I’m praying, I’ll now ask
That you give me wisdom to handle this task.
Allow me to keep my sanity for all the children’s sake
allow then me strong decisions to help make.

Take the anger from me, help me be ever clear
so we make proper judgment, without hate, without fear.
Then one final prayer for my daughter, one more
never again let her hear the words “I don’t love you anymore.”

Oh Sunshine...how touching. I think we all want that for our children.

How we all wish we could take the pain of our loved ones and bear it ourselves to spare them... but we can only offer our love and support... which you're obviously doing. The pain screams from your poem, Sunshine... I hope you all find peace soon.

Words without four letters seem to fail me somewhat after reading this. All directed at the BOSS. Backwards, that's double S.O.B., twice as bad.

I really hope this is not true, though i fear it is deadly real. If it is, your family has my sympathies and you have my admiration. If not, then you still have my admiration for writing such words.

Sunshine,
You touched me some where here inside.
A place where I dwell or hide?
I can only offer sympathy
Perhaps you'd call it empathy?
What ever, you wrote a wonderful poem.

To those of you who are checking back, thank you ever so much for allowing me to put "myself" out here. The pain is real, I cannot bear the thought of history repeating itself, but we will get through this mess. Believe it or not, after having posted this, it later helped me give some new words and new comfort to my daughter, especially after reading what you've written. Thank you again for your thoughts, and prayers.

Sunshine

Your daughter IS a lucky girl to have you for a Mom. How sad for her and any woman with children who faces that.
Beautifully done:

Sunshine, this brought tears to my eyes. The pain of this piece is excruciating. More so that it's real. I'm so sorry. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Again, thank you all. What a helpful, compassionate, healing group we have.

Thank you again for allowing me to express what is real...and what is fiction.

My prayers are with you too-and you know, I just read about an experience like this in the paper today, so you're not alone...but that doesn't make it hurt any less.

God Bless

Love,

There are not enough ways to express "thanks" for the continued heart-warming comments and prayers that I truly believe are being sent out. I'll keep you posted on the outcome. Right now, counseling and therapy are being discussed. Thank you all again, ever so much!
