I sit and watch the waves roll in
and think about what might have been
if we had met in another time
if I were yours and you were mine
~~~~~
I stroll along the ocean shore
and think about the time before
I met you…what I'd have missed
the anticipation of your kiss…
~~~~~
The sand gives way beneath my feet
You would have made my life complete
You are the one I'd been looking for
I don't believe I could have loved you more
~~~~~
I see the sandpipers run along
and what I feel, it may be wrong
but my love for you will never cease
My heart will never find its peace
~~~~~
I sit and watch the waves roll in
and think about what would have been
if we had crossed that unseen line
if I were yours and you were mine
~~~~~
BuzzyGirl, Dream, Hoot...many thanks. It was a tough one for me to write, though the rhyme came easily.
Superb, well written, well presented, well done!
Yes, I admit your general rule. That every poet is a fool:
But I myself may serve to show it. That every fool is not a poet.
caroline, such a beautiful poem, ive found myself here many times throughout my life, and ive realized that often wondering what might have been, might be the crulest thing your heart can endure. it proves maybe its better to take chances instead of wondering later. very pretty!
