The Sage (any better suggestions for a title?)

High upon a dusty shelf
On paper yellowed with time
Lies his simple gift to man
His words in meter and rhyme
As a poet, he was never known
Though I have known as such
And whereas his passing went unnoticed
I miss him very much
Now all that's left are his words
Inked upon the page
To many not the wisest man
But to me he was a sage
How his words they moved me
Such stories he could tell
He left a mark upon my life
This man that I knew well
In the grand old scheme of things
He was but a simple man
And while Grandpa wasn't famous
I remain his biggest fan
~Ruth Grattan 9/11/99
(Dedicated to my Grandfather)

I see he left you his gift Wonderful words of love you've written here, hoot. I really like this a lot. I like Balladeer's title suggestions too.

Now I'm crying again! Oh my, this was absolutely breathtaking! What a lovely tribute to your grandfather! I'm sure he'd be pleased. I think 'The Sage' captures the essence of his impact on your life!

Great writing runs in your family! Great tribute to your grandfather and I think the title is perfectly fine.

Your title is fine. My only suggestion would have been "Stories of the Sage".

By the way, I believe your Grandfather is beaming!

Great job. I was just thinking about posting a poem about my grandfather. This is sooooo good. I'll just keep mine hidden for now.
