I Will Survive

Feeling so completely low,
Could just lay down and die,
Just wanting to give up on life,
Couldn't do anything but cry.

Feeling that both feet are stuck,
In a very deep pit of tar,
And slowly, slowly sinking down,
With no sign of hope thus far.

Oh so lost and dying inside,
And losing all self control.
Feeling so completely empty,
Tell me, where do I go?

Not losing hold of life,
Due to a deadly illness,
But the heart along with the soul,
Slipping into incompletelness.

Then sitting there alone, crying,
And feeling so extremely blue,
I was introduced to a friend,
A very old friend, not anyone new.

A stranger took and looked at me,
And sat me down and said,
"I can see you're hurting deep inside,
You need to learn to live instead."

This friend he introduced me to,
Is a friend my parents knew,
And one they had taught me of,
When I was starting school.

This stranger began to teach me,
Much more about this friend.
Open your heart and let Him in,
And upon Him, you can depend.

Hold on to the hand of Jesus,
Holding on ever so tight.
Don't be afraid to follow Him,
He won't let you give up the fight.

Soon, you'll see that pit of tar,
Releasing both your feet.
Standing there on solid ground,
Feeling a little more complete.

Don't stop there, press on more,
Letting Jesus be your guide.
Both feet will be moving forward,
He'll be walking at your side.

No more tar pit in my way.
My feet both moving ahead.
For I have found, my friend Jesus,
My inner soul has been fed.

Feeling strength from deep within,
Feeling strong, I will survive.
For I've now found, my friend Jesus,
Because of that I am truly alive!

Very lovely message, Geri! Yes, I don't know how anyone survives without Him. I couldn't.

Beautiful. A gift to all who reads it. I
wouldn't change a word.
