A roaming poet caught her eye
but he failed to see her there
she wept for passion lost
as he chose a rainbow fair.

would that pot of gold he held
make up for one he missed
or would his dreams be sweeter
for a poet never kissed

gazing sadly at the morning sun
she stands upon a rocky shore
wishing she could take a step
wishing she could take more.

My oceans are in tempest
your words cut to my soul
don't stand too near the water
for you may slip and fall

and in your falling take me
down to the deep with you
or we may miss each other
in that tempest of the blue

I'd swim the seas wide ocean
brave storms and fishes too
but would rather die a painful death
than hurt someone so true

I am the queen of hearts
you are the poet fair
I will lay down for you
just tell me when and where

Tonight is when I'll lie with you
as strange as it may seem
two bodies locked in sweet embrace
within this fools dream

In dreams I hold you in my arms
imagine your face close to me
taste your lips as we whisper
of what can never be.

In dreams nothing shall hold me back
to keep me from those arms
in dreams I'll share the night with you
and taste my lovers charms

I will close my eyes and see
my poet lover next to me
touch him with my needy heart
only when I wake will he depart

depart but never far away
my heart shall be from you
knowing that the night is ours
our love will see us through

I'll give to you my heart
and the very best of me
you'll have my love, my life
my prince of poetry

Hold fast and do not falter now
my heart lies in your hand
my love is yours forever
to have upon demand

If this lonely heart should wither
and leave this earthly hue
it will depart a happy heart
for having been loved by you

No poets words will ever say
all that I feel tonight
a flowering devotion
as my heart begins it's flight

I stretch these broken wings
and join in words you've said
but now must fly to hold you
In dreams, I go to bed

She speaks in blue, he speaks in red.

Very, very good. I like the sing-song nature of it, I also like the fact that you separated their thoughts. It takes one or two readings, and in that, it only gets better. Well done!

These are true ICQ messages between two poets... 'he' wrote in response to 'her'.

I had to read this twice, the first time not knowing, the second with full knowledge....oh my how that second time spoke to me. Beautiful conversation.
