Sorrow Revisited

Oh Lord, it doesn’t get any easier, does it?
When a friend comes to you with sad news
of impending loss
what a cost
and all you can do is share past views
Oh Lord, it doesn’t get any easier, does it?

Oh Lord, you know what it is to suffer this loss
you know the deepest pain ever given man
you gave a son
we lose close ones
and yet somehow we survive the chasm’s span
tho we feel weary from dark tempests tossed.

And why Lord do comforting words not come
as I’ve already traveled this trail of tears
loss of mother
loss of father
I’ve already been through my friend’s fears
why is it I feel as if I cannot lift her burden some?

If I cannot help her now Lord, let me help her when
she will need it most, you’ll let me know the time
to carry on
a lifting song
I know You’ll place before me the words, a sign
and I will be with her when she’s spent, and then

We will revisit sorrow together.

An interesting prayer. Questions of our own mortality and grief seem always to be tough. This has the ring of the real life experience. You noted not having the words to comfort.....maybe silence is called for in that case. I have found that just being there to show you care is sometimes enough .. nothing needed to be said. Keep on posting.

Oh Sunshine, I could so well relate..When we want, so desperately, to be there for someone we so much love, words seem to shun us..
Well written.

Very touching, truthful words you write. I do believe many can relate to this! A job well done! Inclan is right, sometimes the best comfort is just being there!

Very nicely written...questions we all ask ourselves from time to time...the only two constants in life are birth and death...everything in between is just a big gamble

Sunshine....so beautiful and sad...It is extremely hard to watch someone we care about go through the heartbreak of losing someone they love. You feel helpless, wanting to lessen their pain; but being there for them is the only and best thing we can do.....Your big heart shines brightly in this piece...

Sometimes in our most troubled times we seek for God and he takes time to respond to us. But whether he responds or not his prescence is always felt. Isn't that sometimes the most comforting of all?
Friendship is when you're there...period. You might not have the words to say but just being there will always show you care. You're one of Gods instruments, he'll use you when he's ready.

If I'm ever in that situation, I hope there's someone like you, Sunshine, standing by for me.

That was beautiful Sunshine. I see you
have courage to put your faith out there.
You said it so magnificently. Have faith
in your ability to be there at the right time. Not so long ago, you did that for
me....I BELIEVE IN YOU.
