I turned on the TV and what did I see?
A thousand faces showing ravages and fear,
And I wondered, 'Oh Lord how can this be?',
And I found myself 'floating' in that ravaging sea.

The pain and fear they must every moment face,
Fears countless and untold,
Where do we go, what do we do, where do we find food in this place?
Feeling like their lives have been sold.

I shudder to imagine my family and I dealing with those same awful fates,
Constant fear for all my loved ones,
Voilence and eventually illness waiting at the gate,
What happened to life that was meant to be fun?

So to each of those victims,
And that's what they are,
I wish them strength,
I wish them a guiding star.

I wish them peace,
And blessings from above,
Hopes that end this violence,
And again lives filled with love.

They are heroes, each and every one,
For facing what they endure every day,
When oh when will man realise,
It's the innocent that always pay?

Man HAS to learn from all these episodes,
That love, laughter and life is what makes the world go round,
NOT greed, or money or these anger modes,
And then, only then our world will ring with a truly joyous sound.

So, be thankful it's not us forced to live like this,
And give thanks that our children have food enough to eat each day,
Be thankful for our many blessings and peace,
And thankful it's not us suffering this day.

I guess the 'global community syndrome' is a blessing and a curse. We are more in touch with the rest of the world - with its joys and sorrows. Very nicely done Isis.

Thanks for taking the time to read of our often unmentioned heroes. It's sad only the TV brings these thoughts home. It's funny because my titles are never dramatic enough, they only get a small looksy.
This poem was important to me in a global way, I wish we were all more globally aware and then maybe things would improve in the world.
Thanks for the praise

Excellent! It's disgusting isn't it? The whole situation. Your poem is great, though dealing with such a horrible topic.
