O, your heart will keen
your favor carried in his hand
as upon the mighty steed of death
he fights the battle of his end
'Return to me!' you scream
as he lies upon the dueling field
your favor bloodied in his hand
Sunset streaks of red red wine
bloody bruises in the sky
fading clouds of mourning grey
echo the few remaining threads
of wretched dying breath
A wail, a scream
as the lance of life
loosens from his weakened hand
A summons from the hall of grief
trembles through your sticken soul
and your world quakes in sorrow
as the waves on your shores
run red

An excellent portrayal of grief. This reads like a classic. Very well done.

Thankyou both! I thought it might have been a bit depressing actually.

"Fading clouds of mourning grey." That is absolutely beautiful Severn. And yes it's depressing, but in a "noble Love" kind of way.

PS. Metaphors as ever, lie hidden in your hand
