Listening to every heart

The White Glove

Cannot you see it? That perfect, stark white glove
for opera,
she is pulling it on just now, slowly,
with intent, onto her left hand.

Her right hand’s fingers caress lightly her left wrist,
slightly tugging, gently easing the
glove up her silken arm,

then smoothing the gossamer-like cotton of the glove,
with her right hand, oblivious, ‘tho it is gloveless.

And the art of her is just like a portrait unfinished.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

I just love this one ... the last line is a work of art in itself ...

Beautiful, Sunshine ... but I expect nothing less from you.

Thanks again,

Nocht

I love the power of your descriptions! Not only do I see the glove and hand, I see the wonderful evening gown, the beautiful face, the coifure, the slight smile at the corners of her mouth... everything. I can almost hear the music as the musicians tune up for the opening curtain. Simply wonderful.

You, I have decided, are our mistress of observation. You see life, and the small things in it and write about them. I bow in the presence of your talent, Sunshine.
