The Gatekeeper's Tears

When wailing calls from castle halls
no one hears the sound
When sadness falls from towers tall
a loneliness abounds

Yet from outside these crumbling walls
should a soul in need give shout
the castle drawbridge never stalls
giving safety to those without

No crystal ball, no white-horse stall
just warmth and comfort found
By one and all whose lives were mauled
or those who feel beaten down

But one voice so small on deaf ears befalls
the weeping of the gatekeeper's tears
The silence recalls as the moonlight palls
that even the stoic have fears
