Time

Why is it that our time can fly away too fast for us to see,
That is, of course, unless we happen to be very bored,
Our time can be as valuable as any gold,
But was can't trade a thing to get it back,
So tell me, time, where do you fly,
Or do you simply hide,
I'd ask you stay,
Don't go.
At least not now,
Not while she's here with me,
If only you could stop for now,
Stop traveling along your hidden course,
I promise not to waste you anymore, I swear,
But please, I ask of you, that you could stay for just awhile,
Our time together is so short, our hours filled beyond the brim.
Don't go.

You are my strong melody.
You are my dancing rythm.
You are my perfect rhyme.
And I want to sing forever.
You're my beautiful, my sweet, sweet song.
I will sing again.

That is sooo sad to not be able to catch and still the wings of time. It really is so fleeting but at least you are allowed some of it to spend with those you love and "fill hours beyond the brim" Very nice work.

A nicely written poem, but what's up with the meter?

I like this John. I think it shows a lot of contemplation. Very enjoyable reading this!

Sorry for the delay. Bob, I have a bad habit of experimenting with various meters. This I actually add to the effect of time going by so quickly at times and yet being extremely drawn out at others. That's just what I was thinking with that. As far as the iambic, it's the easiest thing for me to write in.
