My home is me
but up for sale
I'll show you round
do you read brail?

The views I love
please see through my eyes
look around, see the blue above
can you pay my price
as you haggle to buy

Do you know what you're buying?
the garden built with love
My kara lies beneath the rose
the yellow "children in need" but I know
it's only another shrub

The way the drive
curves and tilts
so welcoming as I come home
this my house, home that I rebuilt

You ask me about cupboards and curtains
are they included in the price?
my look, my reply, is so uncertain
what price to put on paradise?

These items I made with tender care
striving for warmth make them feel at home
to give my friends and share
with legs curled under or free to roam

they ask what is that smell?
I explain it's perfume of my candles
and plead with me, I want the name, please tell
they can't say the name, it comes out all tangled

Snoops wanders in, no mouse today
looks at me and say, MUM?
This is my home, here I know my way
you know I love to cause pandemoinium

The wife starts to moan
and he starts to agree
inside I seethe and groan
I need not a two faced jury

I will sell my home, if you'll love it too
but if you don't
I promise this, the amount to pay
is far too much for you!

To leave a place you where you took walls and floors and empty windows and made beauty and comfort is a wrenching experience... you're not just leaving a structure, you're leaving the dreams you dreamed.

But I pray you leave without tears. The new owners won't know that kara lies under the rose... but she'll sleep peacefully, for she lives within your heart. And wherever you go, you'll create beauty and comfort once again... I'll be hoping and wishing that your every dream comes true... and that Snoops finds new hunting grounds he loves every bit as much... in a place where you won't have strangers putting a price on your heart...

Hang tough, dear friend!

Suthern:thank you for understanding me and believing in me...you don't know how much that means to me, as for standing by me..I have no words to express a love that comes and meets all my expectations, for once in my life, I know a dependable love!

Well Said! I still drive past old residences and wave as if somebody I know lives there. A curious act for this rational mind. I wish you well during what sounds to be a difficult time.

hey lady, sending you more big hugs today, what a beautiful, but sad poem, it is a hard thing you do, to say goodbye to your comfort zone.....I know, I shall do it soon myself,
the world seems a raw place to be without it...

big big hugs

I've been there, I've done that, and I know how much it hurts. But it is possible to start building again. New cupboard, new dreams, new plants, new memories that also become old and dear with the years. Hang in there, you will be happy again.

Wow! You have expressed my feelings! I just went through this a year ago. Had a home built, done as I wanted it, had extras too. 7 months later my husband decided to move, and now I am in a home with someone elses touches, and older than me. Needs work, but it broke my heart to leave my home!

WhtDove

I'll let you into a secret
I don't care where I go
the only criteria
is that it's mine
could be old
could be new
but one way or the other
bet your bottom dollar (pound to us brits)
that I will make it shine

That's a promise!

but I'll miss it ever so
it has my prints all over it
my warmth
well
I guess I'm saying
I made it home

and that can be anywhere, right?

HUGS
