I'm in a mood today that has bounced up and down
like a red rubber ball in a game of jacks
Happy and pensive all at once
Old memories and new ideas jumbled together
in a wicker basket full of dreams
I'm busy and I'm bored at the same time
a restlessness I can't seem to define or quell
For fun I check the advice of the stars
Never believed in all that astrology stuff
even though it seems to know my cusped
personality traits…a mix of October and November
Autumn-born baby with a master-number twenty-two
should be writing a love letter on this Sunday afternoon
Odd, that advice, given at this moment when
that half-finished letter is sitting on my desk
leftover from this morning's breakfast of missing you
"we are connected", you always said
"our stars crossed and here we are, at destiny's doorstep"
But we never went inside, as if the door was locked
I'm going now, I have a letter to finish
And tomorrow, when the mailman leaves
I'll have posted the key in that envelope
sealed with the kiss of October and colored
in November's lipstick

caroline,
Some times you light up like a firefly.
And this is one of the times.

Wonderful last lines and a good description of something we all feel at one time or another.
