Sage muse reposed on mountain high,
...surveyed the world below,
With glorified enlightenment,
...his wisdom would bestow,
Philosophes would scale the heights,
...to seek the truths of man,
Muse in didactic diatrabe
...regaled truths with elan.
One day a lowly mendicant,
...traversed the muse's peak,
Searching out the learned man,
...with whom he hoped to speak,
The beggar reached the mountaintop,
...and questioned of the muse,
If one were granted single wish,
...what should a person choose?
The muse replied, a simple choice,
...'Tis knowledge must elect,
For wisdom is the key to life,
...'Tis what I would select,
As beggar walked down mountainside,
...he turned and looked above,
I guess I'm just not erudite,
...For I'd have chosen love.

What a wonderfully written poem....given a choice, I'd choose love too

Oh man, of all the choices, I guess I would have reluctantly chosen health...for if health I have none,...

but outside of my pedantic diatribe, I must ditto everyone else's comment. Well done, Sir!

Top shelf material here! I think I'm with Sunshine on the "Health" wish.

A succinctly written verse. Thanks for sharing this. I think wisdom would have been my choice (since other's are voicing their choices).

I vote for health, every time. But that's irrelevant, it is a simply wonderful poem!
