Young lives cut short - true tragedy;
What could have been shall never be;
Fine aspirations - lost at sea
-When Camelot met destiny.

Enveloped by the black of night
Beneath the hazy pale moonlight
A beacon bright -nowhere in sight
-On Camelot's ill-fated flight.

Sore sorrow's sadness shall remain
Replacing promise with her pain;
So harsh and long shall be her reign
-For Camelot we'll not regain.

Repose in peace eternally;
We'll cherish long your memory
And yearn for what shall never be
-Since Camelot was lost at sea.

I think this can be said for any life that is cut short from this world. So much lost potential in death, for who knows who will be our next Arthur or Joan of Arc.

PS. Thanks for looking in on my own post. Much appreciated.

If I drive a mile or so to the beach - and look out over Vineyard Sound, I can see that fateful destination - If I look down along the shore, I can practically see the Kennedy Compound.... I watched the Coast Guard ships and helicopters on their vigil. It was indeed a sad time... Your poem sums it all beautifully...... Nicely done

dsnyder,
you touched me to the quick
Almost made me sick.
Truly Camelot lost.
Bravo for the poem.

Thank you all for your kind comments. Of course any death is a tragedy to somebody but that seems to be magnified when someone is so young and full of promise as these three were. Thanks again.

I'm sure they'd love it, d. I know I did.
