My Suit Of Armor

I built a suit of armor
Crafted from the finest steel
To free me and protect me
So no hurt and pain I’d feel

The face shield large and heavy
It’s design it took me years
Welded, molded, fastened closed
To dam the flood of tears

My arms which once had held you
Were put into their place
Encased in metal, fastened tight
No longer to embrace

Legs that once had carried me
From one heartache to another
I immobilized with rivets strong
And bound them to each other

Last there came the breast plate
By far the thickest part
Encapsulated in layers deep
I laid my fragile heart

So now my suit is finished
The armor fits me well
But instead of freedom, I am trapped
In my solitary hell

Poignant and absolutely true.

This hits a little too close to feel comfortable. Hoot, you're great.

Moon...thank you very much

Balladeer.....I often wonder sometimes if I haven't crafted it far too well.
