Sometimes when I post I originally will have added space or edited to add space between lines, but in the post itself the space won't be created, I go to edit, and the space is disappeared in the edit area. It takes a few times and then finally the space will be be retained in the edit and created in the post as well.  Has anyone else had this happen?  Just thought I'd mention it, in case its glitch somehow in the system.

How are you adding the space?

Pressing "enter."  This happened today in the critique forum.  And when I would add html line break code, the code wouldn't dissappear but no space was created until I added many line breaks, then it created too much space, I took line breaks out but that much space remained in the post until I deleted all the line breaks out, at that point leaving me with no space again.  After this I just  kept on pressing enter and reposting the edit, and finally it worked!

It shouldn't have worked at all.

By default, the HTML specifications automatically remove redundant white space, both vertical and horizontal. I patched our software quite a while ago to enable horizontal white space, because we needed it to format concrete poetry, but never did anything to circumvent the restrictions on vertical white space. One blank line should be all that's necessary to separate text. More just means unnecessary scrolling.

Can you provide a link to where you thought it was necessary and got it to work?

Hello Ron,

Here's the link to my poem:
/pip/Forum28/HTML/000206.html

It happened between the title and the body of my poem, and also replying to Radrook and Caterina, right between my name at the end of my comment to Radrook, and Caterina's name at the start of my comment to her.
