Hey all: Is there a way to set up one's user account so that one has to enter his/her password every time one posts or replies? I used to be able to come in here and then enter a password every time. Then when I went to reply or post again, it would just put my name and password in for me. But if I ever went off of the site, and then came back on again, I'd have to enter it again. I am concerned that this idea of having a permanant cookie might pose a security risk for someone who uses school computers, for example. Couldn't someone else just go on and start posting wierd junk under your name after you'd finished using the computer? lol, I apologize for my rather paranoid nature. I don't even let my computer store my email passwords for me when I access my mail from Outlook Express. I enter them manually. |

Valid point. I thought long and hard before eliminating the Session Cookies and making them all Persistent, even though the database indicated only a handful of people were using them, because I knew it could present a security problem for some people (I'll admit I wasn't thinking about public access computers, though). That code is called so often, though, on almost every page, that it was a terrible drain on the server. So, I came up with what I hope is a viable alternative. Got a little piece of string? Tie it around your finger and remember to go Here before you leave today. Scroll below the display, toward the bottom of the screen, and click on the link to Delete all your cookies. Your secret identity should now be safe.  |
