Feelings That Remain

After a long absence, finally the day came when I
would see the woman I loved again. Lets just say
that I was away for a season, that would seem to
be beyond a good reason, it was a sacrifice for the
good of my Country that I considered essential, and
now that it was done I felt like it was worth all
the time and effort I had invested, and now the
feelings that remained were going to reconnect with
the object of my Love; trouble is, she didn't
realize I would return to her life one day that
was so far away, and it sort of crossed my mind,
that she never told me she would wait for me, on
that summer day when I had told her I was leaving
for an undisclosed season. not giving her a good reason, I simply kissed her and we said goodbye.
For now I'll put those thoughts away, as I see her
coming up my driveway, wearing a red dress and a
smile, just as I remembered her, so I opened wide my door and took her in my arms and kissed the
woman I adore.

Homecomings can be filled with mystery and suspense. The VA doesn't cover them either.
