Ingrid The Mighty {Part One}

Beneath the weeping willow, a girl, not one in ten sat. There, she dangled her toes over the retaining wall while bullhead pups beneath tickled her toes. She could not go into this water no matter how hot she was or cool the water felt to her touch.

Beads of sweat trickled down her face and she could only listen to the distant shouts and screams of the neighbor children indulging in in the one and only pleasure she desired. The retaining wall was as close as she could get to the mecca of her imagination. Even the tall cattails mocked her, as they were beyond her reach.

But alas she WAS NOT ALLOWED TO PLAY IN THE WATER!

Previous transgressions led the Parents to first cruelly mowed down her secret garden when she was caught taking a nap and then her secret hideaway with in the briers of the raspberry thicket when she was caught eating the sweat, forbidden berries. Surely if she were to play in the lake the Parents would remove all the water in the lake.

Now not only did she want to cool off, but she needed to plan. Her first goal: a new headquarters for her adventurers. Somewhere the parents wont suspect.

Then it came to her like how sir Isaac Newton got hit in the head with that apple: The cant tear it down if they don't see it!

That's right if only she could cover her hide out in bark the Parents would think it was a tree!

I am still working on it. Probably in a month?  I am finishing my masters so I have been crazy busy lol. But I think it has another 2-3 parts. Its a short story. I am sort of practicing for some children's books I will be publishing through apple. Most of them will be free, but some I think I will charge.
