A pound of hot dogs on Sunday morning, a full loaf of bread with every meal, a young man in the forest on the logging crew, nights alone in a single bed - oh how the hunger grew. Tracking deer through the woodlands in the famine of autumn, trapping snowshoes in wintery blizzards of abstinence. Ashes on the hearth, an empty root cellar, lilacs by the door of the abandoned homestead, and under the pines in the dark timberland  - a stone.

That was a great and concise depiction of longing.  The ending with the stone was a great drawing to conclusion.
