She was between ages at the time of the dream; feeling neither young nor old, but still reckoning with the speed of the dial on a timepiece held by another’s hand. Certainly she was old enough to be outside or within the realm of youngsters; yet young enough to know that she still had much to learn. Perhaps that was exactly why the dream was laid out for her as it was; still, she felt her way along a lover’s path.

Hurrying to classes of things yet to be learned, she found herself confronted with handsome young men. One in particular, lean, dark-haired, intelligent, kept smiling her way as she tried to find the passage ways towards the lessons still to be learned.

“Stand still” he demanded, but she would only be  hurried past him. Yet his face haunted her mind. “He’s too young for me,” she thought, and went on to a class that dealt with physics and other things she could not wrap her mind around. She hurried to another class, very aware of the architecture of her surroundings.

Sharp inclines of buildings of glass that seemed to veer on the extreme. If I should sneeze, would it all come tumbling down? That was all she could think.

Then, there he was again. He was tall, darkly handsome, so friendly and welcoming. “Please stop for a moment, talk with me.” It seemed that they were instantly in a favored place of conspirators of love for the sake of soul; they were where they needed to be, in a shadowed moment of instant bliss. He leaned against a glass wall that could not be detected from the outside world. He stood against it, showing itself green and glorious, an ageless beauty that only enhanced his wonderfully etched features.

She could not speak any words, but his wonderful aura spoke to her. She leaned forward and kissed him lightly on his lips. Shadows surrounded them instantly then cleared evenly. He was joyous, anxious for another pleasure such as she had given. Without words she could hear his begging for more, one more kiss, please!

Voices of others came to her then, and she started to back away. His dark eyes implored her for just one more kiss, that he might remember her for all time. The voices grew instantly consistent, now imploring her to remember her place, her age; but next to the young man, she felt ageless. What might it be like, she wondered…

Then she leaned forward, and kissed him again, leaning into him, exploring his taste, breathing in his essence, knowing youth once more. He pulled back, smiled brilliantly then broke into a burst of shining golden pieces, like a holiday fireworks held in her hand.

He had been happy for one moment. A moment that neither of them would ever hold onto forever. It would only be what it was. The professors were calling…she went on to the next lesson.

A dream can bring us to another world where truth is more melting and time doesn't matter.  I envy you this soul touching.
