How strange it is I find time to mourn for soldiers killed in Iraq, soldiers who went there of their own volition, who fought and died for what they believed in and in all likelihood would do so again if given a second chance.

How strange that I find time to be angry with “terrorists” who for all their aberrant and immoral actions are merely fighting the only way they know how for something they too believe in.

How strange that I feel so strongly about things here at home where we are headed by corrupt government and greedy corporations, bleeding the common man; who farm us like livestock, measuring us for every dollar we can possibly produce for them in a lifetime before we even utter our first words.

How strange I choose to sit here and do nothing, but then how strange it is I still feel anything at all.

Thank you for sharing.
Sorry if I rant.

In any society concentrations of power should be avoided at all cost.

I think that the whole political system is flawed. It does not correct many of the problems that occur simply because of human nature. The subtle nuances of the human condition are not completely understood and so we are not equipped to create the checks and balances required to correct the system so that we achieve the most effective and efficient form of government possible.
Chaos theory would dictate that this is probably impossible.
We are also unable to administer justice fairly, and it seems that the more liberties we have, the higher the percentage of the population that ends up in prison.

A worthy legacy is the irrevocable consequence of dreaming.

I think it's laudable when anyone can step outside and take on some of the larger issues in life. I think its equally courageous when people take on the challenges in their own lives and work to overcome them.

We can all only handle so much, and usually, the bubble we live in is more than enough to juggle.

In other words, bud, I don't think it's so strange that you can feel outside your own world and still not "do" anything about it. I think it's just that you do what you feel you can do, manage what you can manage.

I don't think it's strange.  There's a difference between ackowledging that the world is not a very good place save for a few lucky people and being able to do anything about it.

Michael, you have expressed it so well...if only we could all  be happy with  what we have achieved knowing we did the best we could...maybe  we wouldn't feel so "strange" about our contributions to this world or even question them.

Michael:  Seeing, and acknowledging what is, is the first step to changing it. How strange everyone doesn't see the reality of it all.
Well written.
