I moved to Kentucky in 2005 mainly because I could afford to buy a house there. Sadly the MMMC did not share my appriciation for cheap housing and worse I have no motorcycle when I arrive let alone a job.

Within three months I do find a job in the warehouse of an electrical contractor and surprisingly they pay me a decent wage. What this means is I can afford to buy a motorcycle, which I do, it is a 1996 Harlry Heritage Softail with a stage II Sceaming Eagle kit in it. This gives the bike about 75 horse power. However I do not have any idea about the stage II kit because the guy that sold it to me did not tell me. I guess that when you sell a vehicle maybe it is best to say as little as possible and let the buyers imagination fill in the rest. I thought I had a stock bike that would cost me little or nothing to maintain, that I could put 5 or 10 thousand miles a year on for the next 20 years without too much headach. I forgot this was a Harley even though it was a 1996 which is considered one of the most reliable bikes Harley ever built, it was not the bike I hoped it would be, yes it was fast but so was my old Indian and the Indian never gave me any grief.

I rode the bike around Kentucky for a while. I went on a few poker runs and this is where my the next chapter of my life begins, because on one of these poker runs I won in the raffle a gift card to one of the local resteraunts. I thought to myself I have no-one I can take out to dinner, in fact I could not even think of someone to ask.

I spent almost a year on different dating sites making a fool of myself for the sake of love and the strange thing was that I didn't realise just how lonely I was until I started looking for my soul mate. I could not find a women in Kentucky who was reasonably attractive and would even give me the time of day. Attractive women in Kentucky have a monopoly of sorts because of their rarity, they see themselves as being worthy of only the very best prospect and this was not me.

Out of curiosity I began looking at some of the women form Russia and the Ukraine, what a difference. These were truly beautiful women, they were polite and friendly, and more importantly, they were interested. It was on one of these sites that I met my wife. I emailed her and said hello, she emailed me back and we talked, exchanged photos, and became very close. She asked me to come and visit her and I told her I would.

I met her in person in January, she was standing in the hotel lobby waiting and I was late because of my flight. When she turned and saw me she smiled and we talked for a little while, then she went home and I went to my room to sleep. It was a long flight so I slept very well. The next day she came to get me and we explored Kiev together.

The very first site I saw was Saint Sophia, here they had relics dating all the way back to the early Greek period over 3000 years ago. We also saw St Michael Golden Domes Cathedral with it's wonderful frescoes. There are many Cathedrals and statues and shops and if you are ever there don't miss Nezalezhnosti-The Center Square. So after ten wonderful days I flew home and we arraigned for her to come to America it took a little work but after a few months she arrived, a little tired after the long flight and shortly thereafter we were married. Every day is an adventure, life is good, and I cannot even imagine being single again. I enjoy my wife so much that I can hardly believe I could ever have been so lucky to find someone like her. And to think it all began with a gift card. She is a gift she is my treasure, my love, my life.

Arter a week or so of settling in, we went on a couple of rides on the Harley but the bike was dificult to control because my wife was choking the life out of me. As it turns out she is deafly afraid of riding. A month or two later I sold the bike and bought a Volvo stationwagon but soon the urge to ride overwhelmed me and I found a little Aprilia Scarabeo 50 for $900.

The guys I work with think I am crazy because I ride in the snow and the rain and whatever weather presents itself but the thing is I just want to ride. I don't want to work on the bike, I don't want to wash the bike, I don't want to park in a large group of bikes and talk about bikes like the Harley people around here do every Monday evening! I just want to ride.

Thanks
My wife asked me if I was a good writer and I told her "I don't know".
I write articles for her website.
She is from Eastern Erope and her English is not very good.
