By the lamp-softened shadows do I cast my hopes, my dreams for your love to be mine. They fall upon these pages, exhausted.
In vein do I long for your thoughts to embrace me. Will you think of me as your eyes fall like curtains on today's stage? Will I wander through your dreams a prince, or a pauper, or even at all?
I would give my kingdom for your thoughts. Should you know mine, I do so faithfully pray they don't fall upon your ears as blasphemies of the heart.
I shall chain my heart to the gallows of loneliness should it not be yours.

I shall love you diligently, if though in silence. I shall embrace you softly, if only in thoughts. As the sun guards our days, so too shall I guard the hopes that one day your hand shall touch mine.

Betrothed, shall my heart forever be, to you.

My child's smile tells me there's still hope
