There’s a girl on Dock Street who sits there every day
Pen poised gracefully in her right hand, paper in the other
She pokes her hat with her pen every once in a while
Thinking up the poem she’ll have to write that day

Her skit fluttering in the breeze, and her hair whipping in the wind
She plays with the honey blonde strands; tasting seawater in the air
Waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting for inspiration to spark
But still content to spend her day in Dock Street’s wind

She closes her eyes, plunging deeply into her consciousness
A hand reaches out how she knows- she doesn’t know at all
It touches her shoulder; her eyes fly wide open, looking vast
The green eyes meeting hers are startled- so they blink repeatedly

A finger then reaches out before she knows what’s going on
It hovers to her lips and presses down leaving the skin pressure white
It soon blends back to her lily white complexion and she questions
But not from her mouth- her eyes say it all as he helps her stand up

She almost slips, and he slides his arm around her waist, they look up shyly
Her face blushes and feels the heat, hoping her still whipping hair hides it
She carries her note pad and pen- he carries his thoughts upon his face
She tries to speak, he looked up and she went silent; timidly retreating

Silence engulfs their walk, muted thoughts passing through glancing looks
It ends at her house he takes a step back and looks at her just looks at her
She decides to stare at her feet instead, the butterflies permitted nothing else
Finally he speaks he had had to gather her thoughts so before she didn’t speak

"Love you" he said and took a last step and took a breath and kissed her

"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it
everyday."
