Shafts of dappled sunlight filtered a welcome warmth through the soggy canopy of leaves; drenched tree  branches heavy with swollen mosses pointed to branches strewn helter skelter from yesterday's storm that whipped the woods and left its mark.

OH! the sounds of the rain-swollen stream as it spilled and tumbled its way south! These ears rejoiced with nature's music! Tears of sheer joy fell amongst the wet leaves that carpeted the pathway, cushioning my walk in a moment of tranquility.

I stooped to gather a treasure or two, heard a bird singing a sunshine song, a benediction true. Arching branches touched the ground, offered seating for one unafraid of wet jeans and a bit of slippery moss.

A moment later, bending down to retrieve a  carelessly tossed bottle cap (BUSCH label, mind you!) and a zip lock baggie left behind by some fool, I happened to laugh, hoping the careless fools had sat nearby in the poisoned leaves that line the banks, underneath the trees.

Bobbing tree trunks in the fast moving stream spelled threats to anyone who dared cross that waterway! Beware they screamed!

As I left this small nearby woods treasure, I  chanced to see a hawk fly overhead, no doubt on his  way to nearby farm fields for an afternoon snack.

Thank you for joining me for a walk in the woods.

Seems the walk was too short for those of us who are far away. Pleasant memories stirred by your fortune, inspite of the fools.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Thanks for sharing the walk, Larry! Hopefully my next woods write will be in greater depth. This walk was too short for me, too!
Hope you are having a pleasant fall in your neck of the woods.

Fun little foray into the forest. I would have been laughing at the thought of litterbugs with poisoned posteriors also. Thank you!

I enjoyed the walk in the woods!  Reminds me of the woods around here, although I have never found a Busch cap!  Fortunately. I like to think only people who respct nature walk there. We live in a rather remote area.
