The sun was just getting ready to set. The trees were a striking black aginst the
vivid blues, reds, yellows, and oranges. They painted a beautiful picture on the
horizon.

The wind whistled softly and the trees swayed slightly. Seated upon one of
the branches, was a lone sparrow.

And so our story begins....

She sat at the computer staring at the screen, not sure what to do yet
knowing she must write. But what to write about?? Sure she had lots going
on in her life at the time, but nothingshe'd want to write about.

After all, who would be interested in all her problems, her thoughts, her
dreams and worries and wonders???

Yes, who would be interested.....

She awoke with a start as she realized that she must have been dozing.
Yet still, a blank screen was all that greeted her.

"Are you lonley?" asked a voice that seemed to know exactly what she was
thinking.

She looked around. No one was there.

"You can't see me," said the voice.

"Why ?" she asked slightly confused, and a little scared.

"I'm inside you. A part of you that you seldome turn to anymore. A
part of you that is just as lonely as you are."

"Who are you? What are you?" She was now more scared than confused.

"I'm a part of you that you haven't visited in a long time. A part of you that
used to be able to drive away the lonely feeling that is now eating away at you.
I'm a memory;a memoryfrom long ago."

She sat there as her eyes filled with tears. She knew what the memory was but.....

"But I've put that behind me now!! I don't think about it any more. I don't..."

"Maybe if you did you wouldn't be so lonely. Maybe you need to deal with the
feelings you have to the memories I bring to mind. Maybe..."

"Maybe I don't want to. Maybe I can't."

"Maybe you just wont."

She sat there as she realized he was right. She let her mind drift back...
back to a now distant memory. One she hadn't thought of in years.

No, she wasn't going to. Even if it ment she'd be lonely and desolate inside.
It didn't matter. She could hide it. She didn't need anybody....

Not even herself.

They found her body in her rom the next day. The local newspaper
carried the story with a headline that read: "Youth Kills Self!"

But did she really kill herself or was she already dead inside long before???
The sun was just getting ready to rise. The trees were a striking black aginst the
vivid blues, reds, yellows, and oranges. They painted a beautiful picture on the
horizon.

The wind whistled softly and the trees swayed slightly. Seated upon one of
the branches, was a lone sparrow.

The ground was still slightly frozen but there were already a few flowers
scattered here and there. The air wascrisp and a slight mist could be seen,
when one exhaled. The grass was wet with early morning dew, as were the
leaves of the great oak which stood a few feet away from her headstone.

The oak loomed, seemingly hundreds of feet into the air. The few leaves
were cheastnut brown and hung limply, ready to fall at the slightist
gust of wind.

A breeze tickled the flowers and broke loose one of the leaves.
The leaf slowly flotes downwards in a slight spiral. Spinning 'round
and 'round and 'round. Slowly, ever so slowly, wafting it's way down
to the ground. It alighted itself as soft as a fether on top of a pile
of rich, dark soil.

Right beside her headstone.

And so our story ends.....

so sad!
what was the memory, the former life experience that left her so unable to move forward?
is this an experience close to you, or pure imagination?
a good write, you kept me reading line after line. wanting to bring her out to a happier ending

Sad.. but beautiful.. I love your detail. Great job.. you seem to have a way of waking me up in a sense if you know what I mean.

Loved it.
