I was sitting on my couch yesterday watching the boob tube, and I noticed (as I have every day before this) that some show was talking about celebrities again. I think to myself, "what the hell is the obsession with celebrities." "If you are blessed by their touch you have some of their powers afterwards. All this crap does is do the opposite of dehumanizing, which is worse. The culture of America has become that of an overweight only child. We say we need what we want and we want things that we don’t need. Someone needs to start a revolution or something before we all are only living if we are watching TV or know what is on it. Death would be better than this form of not living. And it is as if the people have been drinking this crappy diet caffeine free soda for so long that they don’t remember what plain tastes like. The taste is so bitter and bare of art and songs that have meaning, yet they eat it every day so they think what they are getting is good. If we can get back the sweet taste of plain that has a love for life in a real way, by loving each other and loving solitude and silence. Why cant we spend time getting to where we want. If we don’t spend the time to experience then what have we done, a list of chores. In so many ways this culture is out of touch and realization of itself and what it’s become. We’re living in a new world from what has been before. it used to be about fighting your enemy, or keeping a balance of power. Now every war can be a televised war, and pop shows will show it and make light of its magnitude destroying reality. The reality is that the world is full of sorrows that don’t need to happen at all. And death that is caused by ignorant religions. Ignorance that’s caused by parents or schools. Our culture needs changing and our obsession with television/surrealism needs to end soon."

I agree with this up to a point.  We do spend too much time watching TV and not living in the real world, but to live in isolation is to not exist in the society we have today.  Anything consumed in excess is bad for us.  The key to health in all aspects of our lives is to find balance.   Reality is a good thing, but sometimes a bit of escape into a surealistic world can be a good thing.  I liked your prose.  It's good that you express what you feel, really good, but the world isn't all black and white.  Sometimes it's good to live in color.

Good work.  Keep writing.

I’ve found an odd connection as far as relationships much like the Greek had; a desire to worship gods hasn’t really changed much over the years.
