Hi there:  Little bit about why I wrote this story.

I am currently giving email support to a young girl who is living in a very abusive environment.  I hoped to cheer her up with this story.  She loved it:

The Owl and the Eagle.

The wise old owl sat in the canopy of the forest gazing across the calm plains and ocean. She was content in her wishes, which grew from her experience and knowledge. She glanced down and noticed a baby eagle, hunched on the forest floor, crying.
“Why eagle do you cry?” asked the owl
“I am lost and all alone,” replied the eagle.
“Fly, fly up here to the canopy, see the ocean that lives beyond,” says the owl
“There is no ocean, and I cannot fly, the forest is to dark and my wings too small” said the baby eagle, now crying more, tears silently slipping down to the floor.
With this, the owl circled down from her resting place, landing just above where the eagle sat. Her face held a smile of wisdom.
“Though you cannot see it now, the ocean is there, and there is a light that surrounds the forest that is dazzling. They call this light love – little eagle .”
“But what is love” cried the eagle
“Love is what makes us fly and see what is beyond our boundaries”
Though it took the eagle time, and patience, the eagle learnt to fly, and you can now see her circling high above the clouds basking in the light of the sun, whispering to others, what the wise old owl once told her.

Cool! I knew I'd like your prose, I just knew it. And I like your heart too. Very well done. Thanks for sharing that with us.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
