Between the Lines

As I age, I seem to have become overly sensitive to relationships. I am not sure if it is due to the loss of a "thought to be" lifelong marriage,
and the insecure feelings that I am left with or if it is something else at work.

When one gives up their self and all they wished to be to
give instead to another and help them live a shared life,
though one of many years of success and happiness,
there seems to be nothing wrong with it, at face value.

But behind it all, when the happiness ends for one,
(whatever the reason or excuse) and that one seeks more excitement
what is left behind is everything to be questioned.

No longer is security of being loved taken for granted. No longer is the daily morning kiss good bye
meaningful...instead of habitual.

No longer can words be trusted alone without accompanied by actions
or actions without the words.
What seemed to have been so easy and natural is no longer such.
Mistakes are made, one after the other, searching for the "perfectness"
that does not really exist except in one's own mind and want of heart.

I no longer am that perfect wife, homemaker, partner and friend...but have been
reassigned to second guessing everything in life, even second chances.

"Love is not blind - It sees more and not less, but because it sees more, it is willing to see less."

This is your voice, mo. I would beg for more, but I decided maybe I'd just let you know I'll be hear to listen should you decide to share more. I sense a survivor's story here.

I must agree [delightedly] with Serenity. There is more here, and it's time to delve. Explore. Engage. Live.
