She decked herself in mauve and casually strolled the day away, far from the media and blue frigid thoughts, wondering why her feet kept stepping forward along the moss blanketed pathway, when her heart had quit miles ago. Memories flooded her with the intensity of a downright brutal breath-grabbing blast of arctic air, chilling both heart and soul. Despite the chill she moved purposefully, as if summer warmth filled her bones.

In memories embrace, once over the gentle hill, the meadow invited her to run freely, arms and legs swinging as if she were made of willows and feathers, lightly touching down only as often as gravity demanded. Her mind soared, while her body remained on terra firma. No amount of pain or despair could keep her grounded as long as she could breathe fresh air, climb hills and wade in shallow vernal pools, watch goldfinches and blue jays jet about, smell lavenders, honeysuckle, wild roses and heathers, or watch her beloved Matilija poppies burst forth in extravagant grandeur, threatening to outdo the boldness of the sun.

The day was young, and she was delighted to find a shady oak tree for respite from the sudden rise in temperature. Surrounded by earthy aroma of the tiny acorns that had fallen, she touched upon the one memory that she kept tucked away, for safe keeping.

....to be continued
LOL, this one is taking a long time.

AND...

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Good stuff!

We want more, more, more!

Oh, make me Thine forever
And should I fainting be
Lord, let me never ever
Outlive my love for Thee

Kacy,

If you didn't mention the media, I swear you were speaking about a horse.

*grin*

you write beautifully, reminded me first of an angel . . . I wish I were that weightless.

*tapping pencil on desk*
