Get Rich Quick

The first thing that springs to mind is Calvin and Hobbes: Calvin wants to get rich quick, so the first idea that springs to mind is “Is there anybody we could sue?”. Another one is when Calvin tells his dad he wants to be a millionaire and his dad said, “well, you’ll have to work hard then”. Calvin replies, “No, you have to work hard, I want it by inheritance”.

Everybody wants the most money with the least effort. Yet those with lots of money are often less content than those with less. Money certainly makes things easier, but is easier always better? Working hard and saving up money makes what you spend it on more meaningful. Besides, often the things that really make you rich don’t need money.

Take the dog for a walk. Watch a sunset. Play a game with your kids. Lie in someone’s arms, listening to their heart beating. Then try looking me in the eye and saying you aren’t rich…I bet you can’t! So there you have it, the ultimate get rich scheme: Live!! Life’s gifts lie in simplicity, not department stores.

Lizzie,
I love those last two lines!

What an incredibly sweet piece. Is this much fun legal? Keep it up, please. And thanks.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Clever.. and true! Loved this

Love's a lovely lad
His bringing up is beauty
Who loves him not is mad
For I must pay him duty
