If I could meet a Star

A star…a ball of gas burning millions of miles away…yes, potentially an interesting meeting. You could be burnt, you could be blinded, maybe both at once! Stars are certainly best when viewed from a distance, on a clear night. From the beginning of time, they have a been a mystery to tantalize mankind. Thus the invention of telescopes. Some people believe their positions have an effect on our lives, astrology.

Yet, if anybody mentioned meeting a star, of course the immediate reaction is to wonder, “which celebrity?”. Why do we compare celebrities to balls of gas? The easiest metaphorical comparison would be in brightness. Celebrities could be said to shine in their art. Perhaps though, it is merely their distance from our every day lives. For many people, coming face to face with a celebrity is about as way out as coming face to face with a star. The mystery of their private lives has long tantalized mankind, albeit not as long as their ethereal, heavenly counterparts. Thus the invention of the media. The media brings them closer to us, reveals what otherwise we could not see.

Taking the primary metaphorical comparison of brightness, I have met a host of stars in my time. Parents, teachers, friends, these people are far brighter to me than a celebrity could ever be. To me, these are the people who deserve to be compared with heavenly bodies. Of course the bonus is, we don’t need the media to bring these to us, we need only have an open heart to dance the dance of the milky way.

Lizzie,
Awesome! Yes mam you get an A I'm sure. I really like this. Thanks for taking the time to do this. You made my day.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
