This morning while driving on highway 99, I  encountered a runaway mare and foal, trotting down the yellow center line in a misty ground fog, not knowing which way to go. So I straddled that center line right behind them, across a narrow bridge, then around a blind bend, until the oncoming headlights screamed "It’s time to take drastic action!" So I did, changing tactics, changing lanes, I moved to the right side of the runaways, honked my horn, rolled down the window and yelled at that startled mare and foal. And as I boldly inched closer to her side, within arms' reach and eyeballs stare, she trotted off the highway into an open field to the left...foal following. I skidded to a halt on the left side of Hwy 99, dangling on the edge of a small ditch...just as a truck went barreling past at 50 mph.
I watched as this mare and her foal disappeared into the fogbank...alive. I nearly cried, and felt my heart as it stuck in my throat. Moments later, after driving around the surrounding area, I found the owners wandering around, ropes in hand, looking at hoof prints in the mud. I told them where they could find the runaways, and not long afterwards, I saw the mare and foal riding safely in the back of a horse trailer, on their way home...uninjured.
And I cried. So even though I received word I did not get either of the two jobs I had recently applied for, I can still say I had a very good day.

Kacy,
It's always the good with the bad. And I have seen that horsie sight more than once. Nice job. Must be a better job waiting for you. Peace and courage to you. Thanks for sharing that.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Thanks Larry. I believe it was meant to happen, for whatever reasons. It was a close call, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat. It happened less than two miles from Amity, where one of the jobs was that I didn't get...LOL. *sigh*
Meanwhile, I was saddened by the death of Christopher Reeve, yet know he lived and breathed as a real Superman. Each time I feel down, I think of him, and think it's time to re-read his book, Still Me.
Thanks for letting me ramble.

I think we just saw a superwoman in motion...
as you say, Kacy, all things happen for a reason...
you were meant to be there...
and because of it?
The right job will come along.  I feel it.
And I am very, very proud of your actions!

Kacy, I have tears in my eyes.  This was a beautiful story.  You are right!  Life writes itself.  I believe there are no coincidences, and it was not by chance that you were there!  *hugs* and *more hugs* dear one!  ......jo

Aw, Sunshine. It's nice to have you shining in here tonight. I cannot imagine doing anything other than what I did, even though I was afraid it might end tragically. I nearly kissed my you-know-what goodbye.

Hey JO, I did have a purpose today.

Sorry I meant to get to this earlier. I just keep reading it and re-reading it and picturing it... and from one horse person to another, thank you so much for taking that drastic action. And I know that God will remember that

*hugs* (sorry, I'm all mushy tonight hehe)

and then He created the horse...
