Where are we going in this life?  What do we use as a guidepost to put us on the paths where we want to walk?  Everyone has different goals to seek, some are attainable, some are not, but the dreams to attain them are always present in our minds.  However, as we grow older, our thought patterns change, we realize our limitations and so, we tend to despair of ever reaching what we sought.  Disappointments, circumstances, bad luck, wrong decisions want to bind us, to pull us back from our goals.  We tend to become negative, to keep looking backwards to the bad and overlook the good we also received along our lifepaths.
All life is made up of experiences. We learn, if we so choose. We can take these experiences we have had and use them creatively, instead of negatively.  Look at all of the positive happenings in your life.  Look to the strengths you gained, by taking adversity that was faced and changing it into realized goals.  We are human.  We are going to face challenges, time and time again.  Happiness is what we obtain inside, fleeting to be sure, it seems more times than not, but to be content with yourself is the first step to happiness.  To take each new day, and say, “What will I learn today, what will I see, what will I feel, what new idea will come to me, what old happening will become new to me today, and how can I use this to further me?
We can admit to ourselves we are ignorant, as far as the teaching and thoughts of the world are concerned.  If we can do this, then we are on the first steps of gaining thoughts. Look around you with new eyes.  Take just one thing you see and use it to your advantage, if it is only a smile from seeing a baby laugh, the delicacy of a butterfly moving through the flowers, or even an old person, bent from years of toil.  Do not be afraid to explore these thoughts.  You can not reject or accept new thoughts, if you refuse to even look at them due to prejudices or idea patterns ingrained from youth.  It is like the story of the bumblebee.  Taking weight, mass, wing pattern and the aerodynamics of flight, the bee is unable to fly.  It is impossible with what we know.  So tell it to the bee, all he does is fly.
The key to this is in the above statement of what we know.  Intellectuals tend to be very skeptical of happenings, which do not fit the known thesis’s of the world.  “it can’t be true!” is the refrain.  But this is based on what is known or accepted as realities. For many years, it was supposed or known that the world was flat, however any sailor of the same period of time could refute that hypothesis. Just because a fact or thought doesn’t fit a known mold doesn’t destroy a validity.  It is up to the individual to determine in their own mind, to explore new thoughts and philosophies, to seek answers instead of accepting ‘because that is the way it is’.  Are we so egotistical or narrow minded that other beliefs are wrong if they don’t agree with ours?  Is it satisfying to judge without all the evidence available?  Just because we may not have heard of other philosophies, does this mean they do not have validity?  This is the same type of thinking that kept Europe in the dark ages, while the eastern world had enlightenment.  Libraries of thousands of books and writings at a time when a person in Europe was considered a learned person, if he possessed three books.  This is as if you say telepathy is impossible, because you cannot communicate this way.  Maybe if you followed the guidelines, and trained the mind, it would be possible if you would only seek for this knowledge.  The major religions of the world all scream “this is the only true path, the only way, all else is wrong.”  The true path is how we live our life. How we believe in our souls.  What belief is good for us, whether it is worshipping in a glade or in a cathedral, is the true religion.  True for us, but based on knowledge of what the other religions stand for.  The whole point of discussion is we owe it to ourselves to reject nothing in this life, unless we have examined and made a rational decision on the merits or foolishness of the thought.  The rational decision can only be made if we have studied the different philosophies making up such thoughts, and then, and only then could we feel competent to formulate our own opinion.  You cannot walk your pathway if you are blindfolded or wear blinders.
To give an example, let us say, a person in a discussion with you, says, “I believe in past lives, and I knew you in one of those.”  At first, you would probably look and think, “this person is nuts.”  But what have you based this on?  Have you studied the philosophy of thought behind this thought?  Do you realize the Druids believed this?  Or Native Americans believed this?  The far eastern philosophy of thought?  Or just a belief, “hey, this isn’t true.”  What are you basing your decision on?  Deep thoughts, based on facts or beliefs, or shallow thoughts based on really nothing but a random “this isn’t true”.  It may not be true, but are you qualified to judge?  And if there is validity in the thought, does this change your patterns of your pathway?  Were people born again to be together again, as the new age philosophy believes?  Have you met people before, who made a profound influence in your life, at a point in which you dearly needed someone, only to have them disappear from your life, when you had your thoughts and life together again?  What brought them?  Were they just a happenance, or a force brought to you for your help and comfort?  Or do you just reject all of it as only a part of life.  Only you can make these decisions to your own satisfaction.  Hopefully it will be through study and reflection, and not "this is just the way it is.”  This is the way of life, the way to understand ourselves and be comfortable in our innerself. This is the basis of goal seeking.

You bring up a good point. Very inspirationally spoken.

" We can take these experiences we have had and use them creatively, instead of negatively."

Good point.

Very much enjoyed your insight Logan.
I do agree with much of your beliefs.
But, you said it so much better than I.
