Assignments From My Daughter #15
By Larry Chadwick

L.L. Bean wasn’t really her style. But then again that hat. She had to have that hat. It would work so perfect with her classroom. So she sat down at her computer and proceeded to write a whole sequence of topic titles. Relying on her kindergarten experience she got her scissors out and separated each title into a single paper strip. When they were folded in half they went into her hat. And the hat went to her high school English classroom. It would do her juniors and seniors good to write impromptu papers on random topics.

Assignment #15 “Vacation USA”:

Please don’t let this be a short assignment. I must assume that the lesson plan for this topic includes the objective of forcing us to condense a large amount of information onto one page. The Olympic Rain Forest, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Sunrise Park, The Smokie Mountains, the Upper peninsula, Washington D.C., New England, the Gulf are just a few locations that I would like to vacation.

Though I do not have much money I already have the vehicle that I would use for my sight seeing. My SUV with nine seat belts of which only two would be required. I want to sleep in my tent not a cabin, hotel, motel or RV. I want to cook on a propane camp stove not on a fancy range. The showers should still be daily but may not be all that pretty. And if I have to carry my own toilet paper that is okay too.

The book already exists. But it would be interesting to take the map and only drive on the blue lines. And while some of the items on my list I have already visited I would start over. Now the question is not just “will I live long enough?” but also “will I have enough money?” What a photo album that trip would make. The only thing better would be time with my family.

Larry C,
Definately this assignment was not long enough! I've always enjoyed traveling and your love of travel comes thru in this one. Seems in your travels of life many lessons have been learned. Your assignments take one to a high and than slowly bring them back down to earth and sit them down softly.
Keep on keeping on my friend,

Wonderful.

Maree,
And I have some great memories to prove it. Thank you.
