Chpt: 2
The morning sun flowed through the drapes of my room spilling on to the bed. My eyes slowly opened up to the sound of my alarm clock going off. I turned to look at it. 7:45. I then shut it off, yawing. As I started to get up the thought of Christopher Drake and the dream I had of him came back to me. I smiled to myself like a little girl in love with a boy. The dream seemed so real last night like he was actually here in my room with me, making love. I woke up a bit sore and refreshed, which seemed really strange to me. I thought to myself ‘Could he really have been here last night???’
I shook the thought off. Getting up from the bed and heading to the kitchen to make Coffee, the thoughts came flooding in all over again. He just couldn't stay out of my mind so I thought of him some more; how I felt in his arms last night while dancing; melting in to him. Hearing the beeping of the coffee made it all go away so I grabbed a cup out of the cupboard and reached for the coffeepot to fill my cup. I put my shoes on went out to the porch and sat enjoying the morning while everyone was still waking up. Taking in a breath of crisp cool air that filled my lungs I couldn't help smiling. I was enjoying my coffee when suddenly I heard the phone ringing. I got up; walked in to the house and putting my cup on the table I headed to the phone. I picked up on the third ring.
"Hello!" I said.
"Hello Promise," the husky voice said on the other line. I knew right away that it was Christopher. I smiled leaning up against the wall.
"Well Mr. Drake what are you doing up?"
A pause.
"Well I was thinking about last night and about you. I had a really great time last night. Listen, the reason I called was because I thought maybe you and I could get some breakfast or coffee at Mabel's Cafe?" he said.
Taking only a second to think it over I replied, "Yea, sure handsome. I'll meet you there. How bout 8:20 or is that to late?"
"No that’s fine Promise. I'll see you then bye!"
"Bye Christopher." I hung up then, laughing. With the biggest grin on my face I dialed Zoey’s number.
"Zoey Guess what?"
"What? Are you alright?"
"Everything is fine Zoe, Christopher asked me out to breakfast at Mabel’s I just wanted to tell you. I gotta get ready. I'll tell you all about it when I get home ok? I promise."
"Ok bye girl have fun! I want details!"
I laughed and said, "Ok I'll tell you everything have a good day bye!"
So I hung up with her then headed up the stairs to my room. Once inside I went through my closet looking for something casual to wear. I pulled out some jeans, a little flared at the bottom, and a gray New York T-shirt. I slipped it on and walking to the side of the bed bent down to find my old pair of Nike shoes. I put them on next. I knew I had to brush my teeth and comb through my hair so that was next on my list of things to do before I headed down stairs to get my purse, stuff for my book and my keys. The clock read 8:00. I knew I would get there early, but thought it would give me time to look over my story since I didn’t get to this morning. Five minuets later I was walking to my car. I put the key in and backed up out of the drive way heading towards town. I thought about what we would talk about and smiled as I wondered if he's the one for me; if he's my soul mate? I wondered how good he was in bed?? 'Oh stop it Promise you shouldn't even be thinking that way!'
The sun was warm on my back as I grabbed my stuff out of my car. Shutting it I made sure it was locked then looking across the street I started to cross toward the cozy little café. It would be nice to sit and enjoy a long conversation with Christopher over coffee. So I walked in and looking around I found a nice booth with just the right amount of sunlight. I set my books down and opening them looked through a few papers. The waitress came over.
"Hello Miss would you like some coffee to drink?"
"Yes that would be lovely thanks..."
"Ok I will be back in just a few minuets."
I was looking through my papers trying to think of things for my story. I wanted it to take a wrong turn, give the reader something they would never suspect. Laura, my main character, would have a secret. I wanted her to be hiding something. Hiding her self-harmed body. The scars never really healed as the years went by so she had to lie to hide her past.  She was tired of telling the lies still she didn’t want anyone to know her deep secret: that her ex-boyfriend and his buddies had raped, beaten and tortured for her roughly 29 painful hours. She became pregnant but lost the baby on her 7th month. Nobody knew about it and she wanted to keep it that way. Even Logan, for whom she cared so much even after the one night of passion and desire he was the only one she really felt safe with he was the only one she trusted her heart to. I looked at what I wrote and felt fairly pleased. The waitress came back with my coffee then I heard the door open. With anticipation I looked to see who it was and sure enough it was Christopher. I waved him over. He looked good dressed in blue jeans that fit his muscular legs and thighs then up toward his belly the shirt clung loosely still I could see his 6 pack he reminding me of Logan from my story. It was really strange, amazing almost.  I was suddenly feeling all these other feelings I couldn't really understand at this point. All I knew was I was having breakfast with the most gorgeous man I'd ever met. He sat down across from me his eyes sparkled like the stars on a clear summer night when he was the only one awake and no one else was around. I thought it was pretty arousing. I didn't know why I just did. 'You little devil Promise you're going crazy for a guy you hardly know Oh! Who cares he’s sexy as hell!'  I giggled to myself as the thought took over.
"What's so funny Promise?"
I blushed as I came back to reality
"Oh it's nothing, just a little joke that Zoey told me today while I was on the phone with her."
"Care to tell me what the joke is?"
"Um, well not that this moment...So tell me where are you from?"
Then he smiled.
"Well ok I'm from Boston. I grew up there. Then I came to Maine because I was looking to work at garage. I like to work on cars, besides getting dirty never hurt anyone. I like Maine very much it's really beautiful. My parents died when I was 6. They were coming home from a party and a truck driver slammed into them killing them both. I don’t remember much about them, however I do know that my parents were both very wonderful people and I had to make something of myself to honor them. So I went and lived with my grandparents who kept me in school then went to college. When I graduated I told them I wanted to become mechanic and travel for a while. They understood and wished me luck. So now your turn where are you from?"
I sat there for a moment trying to savor every single word he said. He was from Boston, yet it didn't seem like he had an accent. That didn't bother me, it just seemed odd. Then, I realized it was my turn. I looked at him, then holding my hand up to get the waitress so she’d come and fill our cups, I began.
"I'm sorry about your parents I’m sure they’re very proud of you.” I paused then went on. “I'm from Seattle, Washington. I grew up there. I lived in a tiny house with my parents who loved one another so much. It was really wonderful. They loved me and supported my decisions. So it wasn’t surprising that when I told them  I wanted to become a writer they supported me and understood. They even gave me ideas! They’re the real reason I am who I am today."
Throughout Promises’ whole speech, he never took his eyes off her even after the waitress brought them more coffee. He just couldn't get over her beauty: her amazing blue-green eyes that sparkled even when the stars weren't out. He couldn't resist wondering if her lips tasted like coffee and chocolate or if under her clothes what kind of bra or panties she was wearing? But most of all he was wondering if her skin was as soft as a petal on a rose dripped with rain. He cleared the thought out of his head.
"What's the most embarrassing thing that's happened to you as a child?" He asked.
I looked at him, he seemed to want to move on to a more humorous subject and I didn’t mind.
"My most embarrassing moment huh?  Well I'd have to say when I was about 14 I had this boy who I liked. His name was Randy Dion he was 15, a year old then me. So anyway I really liked him and after school one day I ran home, got out a sheet of paper and started writing him a poem, I left it on my desk till it was time for school the next day. I woke up and went to my desk and it wasn't there. I looked all over for it but still couldn't find it! So I shrugged my shoulders and got ready for school. When I got to school I walked in everyone was laughing at me. I thought that maybe it was a joke about someone else. So I just went to my locker not caring when my brother came up to me and said, ‘Hey Promise look what I've got!’ I looked up and there was my poem!! He’d been snooping through my room and took it and had made copies and showed everyone! Soon the whole school knew about me liking Randy and they all made fun of Randy! I haven’t spoken to him since."
Christopher chuckled a little bit. I smiled at him. I didn't blame him, it was funny. But, it was something I really didn't care to bring up! After all these years, I had just sort of forgotten about it. After my story I took a sip of my coffee feeling the liquid slide down my throat making me somewhat calmer and more relaxed not that I was nervous around him I just couldn't believe I'd told this man the most embarrassing moment of my life! But, it was my turn to ask this handsome man the same. Putting down my cup I smoothed my shirt down then looking at him I smiled. He just sat there looking at me while I looked back. I could see just a hint of green in his eyes along with blue like the ocean. Somehow he seemed to know what I was going to ask because he nodded. I giggled.
"Ok now my turn, her name was Amy Tucker she was really beautiful and I was 17. Anyway I was sitting in my room one day just minding my own buisness, talking to Amy when my mom comes into my room. She starts talking when all of a sudden she pulls out this baby picture of me naked. Amy busted out laughing and I turned 100 shades of red! I couldn't believe she did that! It was truly embarrassing.
After that story we talked till 11:30. I knew I had to get home to do a few things around the house so Christopher and I said good bye. But before he walked out the door, he turned and called back, “I’m looking forward to seeing you at the club on Friday!” And then he disappeared into the city streets.
