I live within myself

Let’s Dance
Let’s skip and hop and jump about.  Let’s close our eyes and shut our ears.  Because ignorance is bliss and love is blind.  Intelligence and awareness comes with a price.  A price few are willing to pay and few have a choice.  Let’s sing out a song about nothing and pretend that it’s what the world hangs on.  Let’s shut off the news and shut off our heads and play all our games and pretend that there’s nothing else out there to do.  There’s no one who’s crying and nobody’s sighing and we’ve all decided to quit dying.  Because life is perfect and wonderful as we gulp down our sweet-tasting sodas that lack all nutritional value, but that’s okay.  Because it tastes good and refreshing.  And everyone’s drinking it.  And everyone’s smiling.  And you want to smile so you’ll ignore the way that some are living (if you can call it living).  In actuality, it’s all their own fault.  They should play games and drink soda and be happy.  We’ll pretend that they are.  We’ll pretend that we are.  We’ll laugh through our tears and bury our books.  Put them deep under the sand because they question or give answers and we want neither.  We don’t want questions and we don’t want answers.  And we don’t want to think.  We want to twirl our hair around our fingers and smack our gum and drink our coffee in the calmness of denial and indifference and never have to know what’s really going on.  We don’t want words or talking.  If you can talk, then you can laugh instead.  And isn’t it better to laugh anyway?

This very much reminds me of the book Brave New World...I LOVED IT...I love thought provoking questions, it is how I tend to write prose.

Always look forward, never look back, dreams are much more refreshing than regrets.

Thank you!  I'll have to find that book.

by the way - FYI - Let's Dance Again goes along with this if you'd like to read more of the same.

I've never read the prose forum of this site. I really liked this, it gave off a really good first impression. Anyhoo, have a spiffy day!
