Hope Chest

Off in the distance life's melody plays as I try to make more room in this hope chest of mine that has clearly run out of room. Humming to its tune as I wonder how the glassware will fair underneath all the things I've heaped on top of it.

This chest was my mothers, and the smell of her smoke still lingers on in the lining. And the smell of that damp basement on Marion Street...The hope it once contained, it turned to mold. In my closet it has found its place waiting to be unpacked for all to see if history repeats itself.

Interesting piece.  Welcome to PIP.  As for this or you being cute, I do not believe I am qualified to give such an assessment.  However, the piece did have a certain sense of irony, with the hope being something to be hidden.  SOunds a bit like a pandora's box.

I wrote that poem quite a while ago and you're the second person reminded of Pandora's box The first person was a 22-year-old college Student. You both hit the nail on the head.

And as for you're not being qualified to give an assessment on my cuteness... You're breathing aren't you? Smiles*
