of Depression

Creep back shadow, huddle deeper in your darkness as that very darkness dims.  I must step lightly and quick to catch the edges of you now.  The sunlight touches the sprouting flowers, some budded and waiting to bloom, others already blooming, and a few come and gone. And I, whom have never truly bloomed, must be gone soon.  That searing touch of the fiery orb is out more each day seeking to turn my pale skin to color.  Perhaps if I kept to my bed, like the flowers, the color would be good.  Not my normal colors or lack of colors, but flower colors similar to the 1960’s when rainbows were the pallet. Instead of my normal black shirt, a bold yellow or gold.  Wear my enemies color as if a trader to the darkness, or more probable a spy.  To walk amid throngs of light worshippers and learn of their perversions.  To see that noon when shadows are the shortest.  But as I throw the bolt on the door and pull the heavy curtains shut, I realize it’s not to be.  My sleeping chamber has but a single light, dim, barely 40 watts, but it is enough for my eyes.  Everything is in it’s place so my memory sees better than my eyes as I remove the cloth shell preparing for sleep.  The day will burn away.  Stronger, brighter, and longer than it was the day before it will rule more and influence greatly those walkers in the light.  I close my eyes to it all.  Your War and now reconstruction will busy the minds of those here about the there as the here needs much too.  I recede with the darkness allowing you to be for I know the Fall comes.  The Fall always comes.  Till then may your sanity be not too unpleasant and I’ll stay in my insanity and with the covers pulled over my head, pillows over my ears, and receded into my own darkness.

Proffesor,
Is that a trip to denial? Insteresting write.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

This piece works -for me- as a protest against the manner in which recent events have been handled by the world's War Hawks.

They, it seems, lay claim to abundance of sanity while implementing policies that seem insane to the millions who believe there are alternatives to war and its destructive effects upon human and cultural capital.. Your piece also has the virtue of brevity -a quality which reinforces its message.

Well written in a tone appropriate to the theme. Also, it has a kind of mock-heroic style which is quite apt to the subject as I have interpreted it.
