Cottoned Thoughts

She lies upon a blanket of quilted flowers, stained glass scatters the dark. Surrounded by the strength of iron, she finally relaxes. Close to her center, candles burn, waxing her with warmth. Long legged, belly first, melted across the middle she writes of her essence. Opening and reopening envelope; drawn by a shadow.

She is alone in this room but engulfed in something past the emptiness. Wrapped in a man’s button down collared dress shirt, swimming in its presence, falling around like ruffles, framing her more dainty than she is. Sleeves rolled in three inch curls to release inked thoughts.

Knees flex and painted toes point behind her, dancing to idea’s swirl. Lip pressed pen paints outlines of words that are said but no sound is heard. Without even knowing, fingers slide on hair thoughts, releasing long strands that fall to back and shoulders. Making her look even more tiny, but this is no child with lace and satin high back panties that slip from shirt with pull of reach to find dictionary or phone answers.

Baskets and shells, orchids and ferns weave her sight as she has encased herself with beauty. Queen bed pillows adorned in white cottoned laced edges become the object of her adoration and caresses as she slips to her back thinking and resting elbows. Patterned ceiling is cloud like play as she shapes imaginary images in her sight as well as her papers.

"It is like looking for a blizzard in a glass snowball. Unless you shake it up not one flake will fly."

My mind is wrapped into this writing I can barely escape the words or the thoughts that have been written. But I am not trapped for I want to stay in this world and keep reading
