He was scarred in youth. His play with his half-brothers and sisters for some reason was torturous - they were vicious to him, much more aggressive and vindictive than with each other. His mother tried to make it better for him, but there was only so much she could do; he had to live his own life, and her shelter in the end stunted him in some ways while making it easier for him in others. The scars were not simply mental but physical. One of his legs was badly sprained once, and because he did not receive any medical attention it did not heal properly and now it could not support him properly. He limped about shunned by all his kind, relegated to the leftovers of everything in life.
Now he is much the same, if a bit older. He is young by the standards of his kind, but not immature. His hair is golden brown, and soft, with a good sheen, and his whiskers have come in, a proper addition to his somber face. Strength there is in him, and a great will. He is sundered. Yet he sits everyday, alone, afar from his kind and watches them - those he should be with, those he should lead.
He tried quite hard, and his young face bears the scars of battles not from childhood. But ever it is his childhood that hinders him. There is no fear of defeat, he has know that outcome far too often. Rather it is his childhood injury. Any battle he wages is lost because he is less agile and cannot strike with one of his two weapons.
So, he sits. Away, on a small hill and watches with sad dignity what might have been his. His head is held high and his back is straight, but his will is finally broken. Even from the small groups of outcasts he is separate. No more essays into leadership, no more attempts to take the Pride for his own. He has resigned himself to his existence.

This was a really interesting piece...almost life-like in description. This actually sounds like one of my studies, so that's probably why I like it so much! (I study people when I'm really bored). Thank you for the excellent prose!

If homosexuality is a disease, let's all call in queer to work:  "Hello.  Can't work today, still queer." (If only...>; P)
