I'm baaack.

Tabby Moon (5 of 8)

“Billy Idol’s not god anymore.” Tabitha came in the front door and dropped her trench coat on the floor.

“You feeling okay, Tabby?” I looked up at her.

“Yeah. I still like Idol fine, Neilster. But I just met god...” She spun around. “And he asked me out.”

“What about Brendon?”

“That guy’s old news, Bro. I’m dumping him with no regrets.”

“So tell me about god.”

She flopped down on the couch. “Tall. Long hair. Chains. One of your traditional bad boys, but he hates drugs and alcohol. He worships Cyberpunk, but thinks Type O is the greatest band in existence. He thinks I’m the coolest and sexiest chick he’s ever met. And...” She let it trail off, not saying anything for a while.

“And what?”

“He smells like a new cotton shirt.” She jumped off the couch. “It’s perfect, Neil. So perfect.”

“Do you love him?”

“I don’t know him yet, but I’d bet money that I’m going to love him. How could I not?”

“These are your first impressions, Tabby.”

“I know. The Tabby Cat’s smarter than that. I’m just being optimistic because he’s so damn perfect. I want more than anything to fall in love with him.”

“Do you know what love is yet, Tabby?”

“Not yet. But he does.”

“What’s his name?”

“Seth. Cool, huh?”

“Definitely different.”

“Think I should?”

“Huh?”

“Does my straight-man think I should go for it, Bro?”

“Is he nice?”

“He can be. He can also be pretty nasty, but never to me.”

“Is he cool with your being occasionally bi?”

“Dunno’. I haven’t brought it up yet.”

“Bring it up before you go out with him.”

“Yes, sir.” She saluted me.

“I’m serious, Tabby.”

“I know. Hey, should I bring him home so you can meet him?”

“You haven’t brought any of your other boyfriends home.”

“None of them were worth it.” She left the couch again. “I’m off for a little chat with god. If he’s cool with the bi thing, I’ll be bringing him home.”

“What’ll you say to Mom and Dad? They’re not exactly impressed with your crowd.”

“ ‘He followed me home; can I keep him?’ ” She flashed her wicked smile, and headed back out the front door, pausing for a moment to retrieve her trench coat.

A new love so soon, excellent.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown
